If we decided to do the preop blood work and biopsy the cost would jump to around $606. Our estimate ended up being around $250 for the minor surgery. Another treatment we would decline because we have seen this type of cyst before and know it's minor. The last highlighted item was to have the cyst biopsied. Not complete sedation anyway (as it was described to me during the visit). One we would decline because our dog is in great health and the surgery was minor. This was highlighted as an "optional" treatment. The next highlighted item was Preop/Lab-Chem for $130.00. No biggie, $40.74 antibiotic that in my opinion made sense. I was prepared to pay for this additional charge because of the turn around time from diagnosis to surgery. On the estimate the tech highlighted the three potential "optional" treatments for Tuesday's surgery. Before we left the office I received an estimate regarding my financial responsibility for Tuesday's surgery. We scheduled the minor surgery for Tuesday. Surgery was going to be required to remove the cyst. During our appointment the vet tech and Dr. The young lady who worked the front desk, Cia, was so sweet and respectful both over the phone in making the appointment and in person. I took my Bluetick Hound into Shea Animal Hospital on a Thursday for what turned out to be a sabeceous cyst. It pains me to write this review today because upon my initial appointment with Shea Animal Hospital I was so impressed. Find a new place while you can before you get roped into this song and dance. Wouldn’t recommend this place under this management to anyone. now please play your visit bill along with an over priced cream to apply to infected site.” Which I’m sure will require another charged visit for them to tell me “yes, your year and a half golden retriever looks great and happy and healthy and all is going according to plan. Now, less than 12 hours later, we are having a skin infection at the site they gave him shots. We were charged for the visit that was supposed to check him. Took him in yesterday to have everything checked out and got the “yes, everything is going according to plan and he’s looking healthy and happy”. None of them even come close to the complications caused by this place. I have had 3 dogs in my lifetime undergo this surgery. In addition to this, the surgical site was infected and we’ve had abnormal swelling and brusing in the area. I wish I had pictures of this because it goes way beyond simple razor burn. Which obviously causes a problem with the dog at an already sensitive and irritable site. They gave him terrible razor burn at site where they operated. Since bringing him in for his operation I’ve been in 4 times in 3 weeks every time going there has been additional expenses added on. I’ve never had a problem with the this place until they changed management. Ive never had any major issues with my dog and have regularly had check ups etc. Recently have had my 1.5 year old golden retriever fixed. Only giving 1 star bc there is nothing lower.
